A Typical Weekend
Every year is a little different, but here's the schedule for a typical Asilomar Weekend.
Friday
Arrive at Asilomar in the afternoon and check in. Relax or explore the beach and the historic buildings until dinner. After dinner, get ready for the Friday dance party and cèilidh. Dancing in Merrill Hall is followed by songs, poetry, and a few surprises.
Saturday
Breakfast in Crocker Dining Hall--don't miss it, you've got a busy morning. There are two sessions of classes focusing on dance skills, formations, and technique. Each class is designed for a particular level of dancer ability. After lunch, you have your choice between ball reviews or teachers' choice classes. These can be on a wide variety of topics: dances by a particular devisor, related dance styles such as English or Cape Breton, or dances on a theme.
Some more time to relax before dinner, then after dinner get into your finest for the Formal Ball. If you still have energy after the ball, ask around about the afterparty.
Sunday
After breakfast, finish packing and check out of your room. We'll have a final class all together in Merrill Hall, with our teaching team taking turns. Lunch in the dining hall and farewell to new friends and old.
