Still on the Fence?

If you are still on the fence about where to dance this fall, we have places open up for upcoming Asilomar Weekend. Join us for some incredible Scottish country dancing, the chance to catch up with friends old and new in a pretty awesome location.

We've selected musicians to get you dancing. Our Saturday night Ball Band, Hood Wink and Swagger, featuring Gary Thomas, Ron Wallace and Steve Wyrick, will be expanded to include additional fine fiddling from Lisa Doyle (of the Amaryllis Trio & Sonoma County Philharmonic), the beautiful cello and masterful bass work of Erik Ievins (of StringFire & the Golden Gate Symphony), and driving percussion of Donald Robertson (of Fiddlesticks & Ivory).

Friday night's Welcome Dance fiddler Laura Risk, a long-time participant and teacher with Alasdair Fraser’s fiddle camps, has been a staff musician and coordinator for Pinewoods Scottish sessions, and is a world-class Scottish fiddler. In duo with her, pianist Nicholas Williams has also been on staff at Pinewoods and Alasdair Fraser’s Valley of the Moon Scottish camp. We'll of course also have an awesome group of stellar class musicians.

Our teachers this year will surely entice you to come to Asilomar! Sue Porter from Oban, Scotland, Marry Murray from Vancouver, BC., and Fred DeMarse, now local, but long in demand internationally, are joined by the vivacious Chandi McCracken of Minneapolis, MN. and our own Gary Thomas of Santa Rosa.

So what are you waiting for? You’ll be glad you decided to come join the dance. We’re looking forward to seeing you there! Head to the Apply Now page and get started
